Our Office of Curriculum & Instruction operates with a clear focus on several core responsibilities that guide our daily work and long-term vision. In curriculum development, we are constantly designing, refining, and updating comprehensive K-12 learning programs to ensure they reflect current educational research and prepare students for future success. Through professional learning initiatives, we provide ongoing, high-quality training and collaborative support for teachers and staff members, empowering them with the tools and knowledge they need to excel in their classrooms. We oversee all aspects of student assessment, including both Ohio State Testing and National Testing Programs, detailed data analysis, and academic accountability measures that help us understand and improve student outcomes. Additionally, we coordinate multilingual instruction for our diverse learner population, and deliver specialized student supports designed to help every learner reach their full potential.
One of our primary objectives for the 26-27 school year is to establish comprehensive expectations and protocols for monitoring the curriculum and instructional resources that are currently being implemented across all classrooms and grade levels.
The Office of Curriculum & Instruction is responsible for understanding and overseeing several critical dimensions of curriculum implementation. First, we must have clear knowledge of which specific curriculum materials and instructional resources teachers are expected to use in their classrooms. We also should verify that all teachers have adequate access to these required resources and materials. Most importantly, our team ensures that lesson planning documents and practices align with the district's broader instructional expectations and standards. CCPA utilizes Ohio-Approved curriculum providers such as I-Ready, Amplified, TCI, Common Lit & Stem scopes, just to name a few. Our diagnostic testing partners include I-Ready and Pro-Core.
At CCPA our teachers not only drive instruction, but they also support social-emotional growth, helping young people navigate challenges and develop empathy. Our teachers are essential to students’ success because they provide personalized mentorship that digital tools and artificial intelligence cannot replicate. Our teachers understand a student's fears, frustrations, and personal struggles, creating deep connections that foster genuine care through real human feelings and biological presence rather than programmed responses. When children struggle to believe in themselves, a human touch provides the encouragement and confidence-building support that matters most. Beyond emotional connection, our teachers serve as mentors and role models, guiding values by demonstrating integrity, resilience, honesty, and social responsibility in real time. They inspire lasting passion for learning, help students discover their potential, and teach essential life lessons about teamwork, conflict resolution, and navigating the social world. Teachers also excel at reading the room by noticing unspoken cues, confusion, and hidden misunderstandings that screens miss, allowing them to flexibly adapt their methods and change how they explain concepts on the fly to match each student's unique way of thinking. Through lively debate and thoughtful questioning, they encourage critical thinking and prompt students to question and analyze complex ideas in ways that digital tools simply cannot.
