Climbing Higher Together
Dear CCPA Learning Community,
As we move through the opening weeks of the 2026–2027 school year, I want to thank our students, families, faculty, staff, and community partners for helping us begin the year with energy, purpose, and a strong sense of community.
Our theme this year, “Climbing Higher Together,” is more than a slogan. It reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and our belief that our greatest success happens when students, families, educators, and community partners work together.
September has already provided several examples of that commitment throughout Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy.
A Successful SPIN Night
One of the highlights of the month was our Student Parent Information Night (SPIN Night). It was wonderful to see so many CCPA families on campus connecting with teachers, visiting classrooms, learning more about their children's academic programs, and strengthening relationships with our school.
We were also pleased to have our partners from Beech Acres Parenting Center join us and engage families through Character Effect activities. Partnerships like these help us support the development of the whole child while providing additional resources for our families.
Thank you to our teachers, administrators, support staff, security team, students, families, and partners who helped make the evening a success.
Dress for Success
At CCPA, we continue to emphasize the importance of students arriving each day prepared to learn. Our Dress for Success expectations are part of creating an environment that promotes pride, discipline, consistency, and readiness.
We appreciate our parents and guardians for partnering with us by ensuring students arrive at school each day in the proper CCPA uniform. These seemingly small routines help establish the habits and expectations that contribute to student success.
Supporting Our Families
Our commitment to the CCPA Learning Community extends beyond the classroom. Our CCPA Food Pantry, led by Erica Slusher, continues to provide valuable support and resources to our families.
We are grateful for the staff members, volunteers, donors, and community partners who make this resource possible. Taking care of our students means recognizing that strong schools are built by supporting strong families.
Our Youngest Scholars Are Off to a Great Start
Our Kindergarten Red Team is doing outstanding work welcoming some of our newest student scholars into the CCPA family.
Teachers Ruthanne Hosack, Briana Reynolds, Kiley Dowling, and Danielle Reed, along with paraprofessional Breyahnna Hill, are helping our kindergarten students develop the academic skills, classroom routines, confidence, and sense of belonging necessary for a successful beginning to their educational journey.
These early experiences establish the foundation for everything that follows, and we appreciate our kindergarten team for introducing our youngest scholars to the CCPA Way.
Developing Engaged Citizens
Our High School students are also learning that education includes understanding their role in the larger community.
Under the leadership of teacher Rosie Bentley, students recently participated in the Youth at the Booth initiative. Through this effort, 35 CCPA students registered to vote, while others are exploring opportunities to earn community-service credit by serving as poll workers.
We extend a special thank-you to Carol Kabel and the Isaac M. Wise Temple Civic Engagement Voting Matters Committee for providing information and resources to help educate our students and learning community about civic participation.
Regardless of where our students' paths take them after graduation, we want them prepared to be informed, responsible, and engaged members of their communities.
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
CCPA is proud to join schools and communities across the country in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 through October 15.
This is an important opportunity for our students to learn about and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Throughout our learning community, we value the diversity of our students and families and believe that learning about different cultures helps students develop greater understanding, respect, and appreciation for one another.
We encourage our students and families to take part in the learning and celebrations taking place throughout Hispanic Heritage Month.
Looking Ahead: CCPA Harvest Fest — October 30
We are also excited to look ahead to one of our fall community events. Mark your calendars for CCPA Harvest Fest on Friday, October 30!
Harvest Fest will provide another opportunity for our students, families, faculty, and staff to come together and enjoy the spirit of the fall season as one CCPA family.
Additional information about Harvest Fest activities, times, and participation will be shared as we get closer to the event. We hope our families will save the date and plan to join us for a fun day of CCPA community and school spirit.

As Superintendent, I am encouraged by what I see happening throughout our school. I see teachers building relationships with students. I see families becoming more involved. I see community partners investing their time and resources. Most importantly, I see our students continuing to learn, grow, and discover what they are capable of achieving.
We know there is much work ahead of us. We will continue focusing on strong instruction, student achievement, attendance, school safety, consistent expectations, and creating an environment where every student has an opportunity to succeed.
Thank you to our families for trusting us with the education and development of your children. Thank you to our faculty and staff for the work you do every day. And thank you to our partners and supporters who continue to believe in the mission of Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy.
We have started the year with positive momentum, and we intend to keep climbing.
